Overview

SprintRay Midas is a purpose-built chairside 3D printing system for dental restorations. Unlike conventional resin printers that rely on resin bottles, tanks, and reusable build platforms, Midas uses a sealed, single-use Midas Resin Capsule containing the material and integrated print surface.

Midas is powered by SprintRay's Digital Press Stereolithography (DPS™) technology. The system actively presses highly viscous restorative material into the build area while curing it with a 385 nm UV-A light source. This pressurized approach allows Midas to process highly filled composite materials that are difficult to print using conventional gravity-fed resin tank systems.

The Midas workflow follows a simple Scan → Place → Press process. Before printing, the capsule barcode is scanned to verify material type, shade, lot information, and expiration date. The printer then guides the user to the correct capsule position on the heated print glass. Up to three capsules can be printed in a single job.

Midas supports Single Unit and Multi Unit capsule formats. Single Unit capsules are optimized for individual restorations such as crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers, while Multi Unit capsules provide a larger build area for multi-unit and arch-based restorative cases.

SprintRay states that Midas can print up to three definitive crowns in under 10 minutes in supported workflows, making it particularly suited to same-visit restorative dentistry.
