Overview
BOSS Spiral Flute Taps – SFT are machine cutting taps from BOSS, a German thread-tool manufacturer, designed with a focus on machining stability, chip evacuation and tool life.
The SFT geometry combines a spiral flute with application-specific chamfer designs. The spiral flute helps guide chips away from the cutting zone, while the chamfer geometry controls the initial cutting load and threading process.
BOSS offers different chamfer configurations depending on the product series. A representative configuration is Form C with 2–3 Threads Chamfer, while other configurations are available for different machining requirements.
Efficient chip evacuation is particularly important in blind-hole tapping. Chip accumulation inside the hole can increase cutting torque, cause chip packing and increase the risk of tap breakage. The spiral flute design helps control chip flow and supports more stable threading.
BOSS also provides different surface treatments according to individual tool codes, including TiN, VAP and TiCN. The appropriate coating can improve wear resistance and extend tool life under suitable machining conditions.
In addition to DIN and metric tooling, BOSS offers JIS Machine Taps, making the range suitable for machining environments commonly used in Asian and Southeast Asian markets.
Tô Gia supplies BOSS Spiral Flute Taps according to the actual machining requirement, including thread size, pitch, workpiece material, hole type, chamfer, tolerance, coating and cutting conditions.
